This took way too freaking long to make hahaaaaa...

Also learned the hard way not to use just my fingers when taking out safety eyes or shaping wire- split three of my nails down to the bed, so that was fun.

Very chonky raven, but I like it. The yarn is really pretty too.

Was planning to find a good 80s/90s song for the short I want to make with it, but for some reason decided on using "Feel It Still" by Portugal the Man instead (cuz that makes total sense???). Had that on loop while working on this.

Understand that when I kill a character, I have KILLED THEM. They are DEAD. With the singular exception of the supernatural/undead characters in my Slasher series, if someone dies they are finished. Kaput. Muertos.

I can not abide by the writing convention that comic-bookified media has made, where death is only an inconvenience. It betrays heroically self-sacrificial deaths by turning their ultimate sacrifice into a minor setback. It eliminates the ability to write stories about loss, grief, and moving on when the audience believes that the loss setting that plot into motion can be simply reversed.

There is no half-measured angst here. I do not make non-canon AUs for character deaths to occur consequence-free. I do not let magic forces return them to life. I do not let time travelers appear to prevent their deaths. I send them directly to the grave. I write weapons-grade angst. We don't do diet death here.

Aa i just noticed the parallels between Fish and Purple and Raven and Ivan after my 100th rewatch

Idk i love neon wings sm, the sound design is soo good! I love how the panic attacks/ptsd flashbacks are portayed. And i love the fight scene with Raven in the diner, the sound effects Are so good im never confused on whats going on. «Untill the next sunrise» is a gut punch.

Semi-secret lore: Acid Rain was Crow's first love. They still have quiet feelings for one another, even though they had both changed too much while apart too fall in love again. It's never outright stated but there are some hints!

- The moment Crow learns the identity of his target, he outright refuses to kill her. He says it's because she's one of the last members of his tribe, but the real reason is that he can't bring himself to kill her.

- Acid behaves aggressively toward Crow around her gang, but won't kill Crow. The reason Acid chooses to acknowledge a tribal rite of combat law from a tribe that effectively doesn't exist anymore is because she knows whether Crow wins or loses she can let him go alive.

- Crow offers terms in his rite of combat that would allow for him to win without killing Acid.

- When Crow finds the baby with his DNA (Vengance), he wants Acid to raise it. He chose Acid for this over Raven for a number of both practical and emotional reasons. First because he only trusted a Supergenate to raise another Supergenate, second because he wanted her to pass down his Bright Sands tribal culture to his "son", and finally because they had planned on having children together in the past, a conversation he never had with Raven.

- Acid had no interest in killing Crow (and even helped him by granting him a chance in a non-lethal rite of combat), but jumped at the first opportunity to eliminate Raven. Acid Rain utterly despised Raven as she was a symbol of the influence of civilization on Crow (making him less of a Barbarian). Furthermore she was furious seeing him with another woman, even if they weren't fully romantically involved yet. Seeing Crow put himself in harms way to physically guard Raven from the landmine made her unbelievably angry.

- When Acid remarks that it's raining, she reminds Crow that he used to love rain when he was younger. He simply responds "It hurts to remember". They weren't talking about the literal rain outside, but about Acid Rain herself.

- Crow greets Acid with a cheeky little nickname when he rescues her from the lab, using the playfully ironic formal title "Miss Rain". He sounds almost flirtatious and extremely familiar when he does it.

Anyway Crow loved Raven more than anything but that boy had some BAGGAGE over his ex. They never had a proper breakup because he only left after believing her dead. As a result he died with an absolute truckload of unresolved feelings about his Barbarian ex girlfriend. It'll be explored in Neon Memoriam.
